I could not believe it, but this is the first post in MiM labelled to Pablo Casals. As historic recording from 1936 to 1939, I present J.S. Bach's complete suites for cello (BWV 1007-1012). Casals came across to them at the age of thirteen:
"It was the greatest relevation of my life. I immediately felt that this was something of tremendous importance and I went home, clutching these treasures to my chest. I was incredibly exited when I started playing them. I studied them for some twelve years and worked on them each and every day. I was almost twenty five years old before I had plucked up enough courage to play them in public - no other violinist or cellist before me had played one of the suites in its entirety". (Pablo Casals).
