A sizeable batch of fine recordings as LP transfers this Sunday.
Some are real rarities (Honegger's
Antigone and Scherchen's Honegger, Gardelli's Pizzetti, Shostakovich's
Folk Poetry set by K. Sanderling, Tilson Thomas's Respighi, Jochum's Strauss and the Kontarskys' Reger album), others are less hard to find, yet quite dear to me so I gladly included them in their original form.
Dvořák's
From the New World by Rostropovich is a gem, and so are Boulez's
Les nuits d'été and R. Serkin's Brahms album (featuring a touching account of
Op. 119).
Frederica von Stade's enchanting voice in Canteloube's
Tryptique is just sublime and so is Previn's recording of Vaughan Williams 7th Symphony, the
Antartica, and so forth...
Arthur Honegger
Antigone
Geneviève Serres, Claudine Vermeuil, Janine Collard,
André Vessieres, Jean Giraudeau, Bernard Plantey,
Bernard Demigny, Michel Roux.
